The Negros Electric and Power Corp. (NEPC) assisted the Central Negros Electric Cooperative in the urgent rehabilitation of its Reclamation and Burgos substations in Bacolod City on Sunday, June 23, to prevent prolonged power interruptions from occurring, CENECO acting general manager Arnel Lapore said.
NEPC will take over CENECO’s power distribution operations in central Negros when a bill granting it a franchise is signed into law by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Roel Castro, NEPC president and chief executive officer, earlier said they hope to begin operations in August.
NEPC has not taken over from CENECO yet but it wants to ensure that its substations are maintained, Lapore said.
They did this at no expense to CENECO, he said.
“Today’s event represents a significant achievement for CENECO and consumers, made possible through the collaboration with our partner, Negros Power,” Lapore said.
“We have successfully rehabilitated the Reclamation and Burgos substations, ensuring enhanced electricity delivery to our consumers,” he said.
This proactive approach will minimize future disruptions, Lapore said.
