Negros Power energizes 57th sitio in Bago City

Another remote community in Negros Occidental has officially gained access to electricity as Negros Power successfully energized Sitio Hibong in Brgy. Don Jorge L. Araneta, Bago City on Saturday, May 16, — marking the company’s 57th energized sitio under its Sitio Electrification Program (SEP).

A total of 30 households in Sitio Hibong were energized, bringing light, convenience, and new opportunities to residents who have long waited for stable electricity in their community, a press release from Negros Power said Monday.

To date, Negros Power’s SEP has already energized 57 sitios across its franchise area, benefiting a total of 2,703 energized households out of 3,338 potential households identified in the program, it said.\

The electrification projects now cover communities in Bacolod City, Silay City, Talisay City, Bago City, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto.

Under the program, Negros Power has  installed 803 poles, energized 66 distribution transformers, and completed approximately 66.9 kilometers of conductors to bring reliable electricity to remote communities.

The projects also represent a combined transformer capacity of 2,383 kVA with a projected demand of 927 kW, Negros Power said.

Negros Power has invested a total of ₱52.38 million for the implementation of the Sitio Electrification Program, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding access to electricity and improving the lives of underserved communities.

Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Planning, Business Operations and Sitio Electrification Program and Negros Power Spokesperson, emphasized the importance of continuing rural electrification initiatives for underserved communities.

“Every sitio we energize represents hope and progress for the community. Through these projects, we are not only providing electricity but also opening more opportunities for education, livelihood, communication, and better living conditions for our fellow Negrenses,” Tambanillo said.

Residents expressed their gratitude as electricity is expected to improve daily living conditions, support students in their studies at night, enhance communication access, and provide better opportunities for livelihood and small businesses within the sitio, the press release said.

With Sitio Hibong now energized, Negros Power continues to move closer to its mission of bringing safe, reliable, and accessible power to more families across Central Negros, it said.*
