The Negros Electric and Power Corp. announced on Wednesday, Dec. 4, that because of the delay in its sending bills to its consumers, they will not implement power disconnections and penalties, on those affected.
Rocella Ann Marie Fernandez, head of the Revenue Management Department of Negros Power, said the delay is because of the transition from Central Negros Electric Cooperative to Negros Power.
Since this is the first bill issued by Negros Power, several processes, including Data Migration, were required to gather and verify consumer data. This caused temporary delays in the release of some bills, Negros Power said in a press release.
Fernandez also cited additional factors contributing to the delay, such as old meters that could not be read and instances of sudden increases or decreases in consumption.
These require investigation to ensure the accuracy of the bills, she said.
She also said that consumers who receive multiple bills at once will be given a one-month extension for payment.
“We can expect that in the coming months the delivery of bills will normalize, except for those who have problems with their meter,” she added.
“If your consumption suddenly increased or decreased, the spot bill printing is being held. This is subjected to investigation, which is why the meter is photographed to evaluate if the reading captured in the field is accurate,” she said.
Consumers who do not receive their bills can send a message to Negros Power Facebook page for inquiries.*
