Negros Occidental’s vax numbers slightly increase

Negros Occidental has vaccinated 61.54 percent or 1,291,349 of its target 2,098,421 residents with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Tuesday, February 15.

This is an improvement from 1,274, 303 or 60.73 percent on February 6, he said.

It has also fully vaccinated 55 percent or 1,154,177 of its target, or an increase from 53.13 percent on January 30, he said.

The projected population of Negros Occidental from 2,607, 671 in 2021 had increased to 2,623,026 in 2022, Diaz said.

The target for vaccination in the province has also been increased from 70 percent of the population in 2021 to 80 percent of the population in 2022.

This has resulted in an increase in Negros Occidental’s target for vaccination from 1,825,370 in 2021 to 2,098,421 in 2022, Diaz said.

Only two local government units in Negros Occidental have fully vaccinated more than 70 percent of their target population: La Carlota City with 79.71 percent and Cadiz City with 72.28 percent.

Meanwhile, 1,030 children aged 5 to 11 were vaccinated against COVID-19 at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City on Monday, Diaz said.*
