A meeting with the mayors of Negros Occidental to discuss ways to ramp up the COVID-19 vaccination drive and to curb the rise in dengue cases in the province will be held Tuesday, May 24, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, said.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said he will also consult the mayors on the possible lifting of the curfew in the province.
“I will consult with the mayors if they feel that they can already lift the curfew. If the majority say yes we can decide to lift curfew, unless there are chief executives who would like to maintain it in their respective areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lacson said there are no dates yet for the four-day ramped up COVID-19 vaccination drive in Negros Occidental.
He expects Tumimbang to submit the proposed dates this week.
“We need the involvement of all inter-local health zones,” Lacson said.
That means those from areas with high vaccination rates can help local government units with low performance, he said.*
