Negros Occidental is expected to have more than 2 million voters even after the Election Registration Board (ERB) hearings on March 6, Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said on Monday, February 27.

There were 56,723 in Negros Occidental who recently registered to vote in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in October.

The ERB hearings to approve or disapprove the new registrants’ applications to vote will be held on March 6, Ananoria said.

Ananoria said he expects that after the ERB hearings the voters of the province will be at over 2 million.

Negros Occidental had 1,946,639 in 2022 making it the province with the 6th largest voting population in the Philippines, Comelec records show.

The top five provinces with the most number of voters in 2022 were Cebu, Cavite, Pangasinan, Laguna and Bulacan.

The filing of certificates of candidacy for the BSKE will be from July 3 to 7, and the election period will be from July 3 to November 14.

The campaign period will be from October 19 to 28 and Election Day will be on October 30.*
