The Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Emergency Operations Center (PDRRMC EOC) is going on Blue Alert for the holidays.
They will go on Blue Alert starting 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, until 8 a.m. of Jan. 2 in anticipation of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Irene Bel Ploteña said Friday.
Blue Alert means personnel and resources are pre-positioned to immediately respond to emergencies during the holidays, she said.
Aside from the PDRRMO this involves personnel from the Provincial Health Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and uniformed personnel, Ploteña said.
Ploteña reminded those attending parties to drive safely to avoid accidents, she said.
“Don’t drink and drive,” Ploteña said.
She also cautioned the public to eat with caution to avoid ending up in hospitals that are also going on Code White for the holidays.*
