The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) of Negros Occidental was recently recognized with the Outstanding Implementing Partner Award by the Department of Agriculture-PhilRice Negros.
The honor was conferred during PhilRice Negros’ 22nd Founding Anniversary celebration in Talisay City on July 22.
The award acknowledges OPA’s unwavering support and valuable partnership in implementing research, development, and extension initiatives led by PhilRice Negros.
This collaboration has significantly improved rice production practices, empowered farmers, and promoted sustainable agricultural technologies across the province, the PhilRice award said.
Dr. Dina Genzola, OPA officer-in-charge, in her acceptance speech underscored the importance of continuous cooperation between local government units and research institutions to achieve food security and agricultural competitiveness in the region.
“This recognition is a reflection of ABANSE Negrense, our shared commitment to building progressive, resilient, and technology-driven rice farming communities,” Genzola said.
“We are grateful to PhilRice Negros for the continued trust and for being a reliable partner in development”, she added.
PhilRice Negros commended OPA’s crucial role in expanding the reach and impact of their programs, highlighting its active involvement in farmer trainings, technology demonstrations, and community-based interventions.*
