Negros Occidental representatives expressed their support for Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson amid the beginnings of a potential recession in the country.

The representatives were at the inaugural rites of the provincial government officials at the Capitol grounds in Bacolod City on Saturday, June 25.

“The Philippines is experiencing the beginnings of a potential recession, we are coming out of COVID pandemic’s repercussions,” Rep. Francisco Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) said.

However, Benitez said he is certain with Lacson’s leadership the province can put into full force its recovery plans in food security, tourism and digital transition for a more diversified kind of economy.

The province still has problems with energy and peace and order, but he believes that is going to be addressed quite strongly by the governor, Benitez said.

Lascon in his first three years as governor has shown his competence in leading the province, Benitez said.

Rep.-elect Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District) said she hopes to continue the same partnership and coordination with the provincial government and the LGUs in the delivery of programs and projects.

Rep.-elect Emilio Yulo III (Neg. Occ., 5th District) said it is important that they continue working together with the provincial government, especially with the national government’s thrust in agriculture.

“It is imperative and important to us to align all programs with the national government,” Yulo said.

Also present at the inaugural rites were Rep., Alfredo Marañon III (Neg. Occ., 2nd District) and Rep. Gerardo Valmayor (Neg. Occ., 1st District).*
