A murder charge has been filed against the suspect who allegedly hit a 13-year-old boy on the head with a beer bottle in Escalante City, Negros Occidental, resulting in the minor’s death.
Police said the case was filed on Thursday, May 28, against alias “Toto,” a former CAFGU member and traffic enforcer in Escalante City.
The incident happened in Brgy. Paitan on the night of May 26.
The suspect was arrested through an operation conducted by police and military personnel after he allegedly attempted to flee.
Authorities proceeded with the filing of the case after gathering witness statements and evidence related to the incident.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was attending a vigil at a neighbor’s wake when the suspect, who was reportedly drinking nearby, suddenly approached him.
The suspect then allegedly hit the victim on the head using a beer bottle.
The boy was brought to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
The suspect remains under police custody for proper disposition.*
