Multiple road crashes leave 1 dead, 10 injured

A series of road crashes across Negros Occidental from Monday to Tuesday, March 23 to 24, left one person dead and at least 10 others injured, police said.

In Hinigaran a 31-year-old motorcycle driver died after his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a dump truck at the Hinigaran–Pontevedra national highway past midnight on Tuesday.

Police said the rider sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead at a medical clinic.

In Don Salvador Benedicto, five persons were injured after a motorcycle with sidecar lost control on a descending curved road and plunged into a canal at the national highway in Brgy. Igmayaan on Monday.

Authorities said the driver sustained a head injury and fractured arm, while his passengers suffered minor injuries.

In Candoni, four individuals were injured after two motorcycles collided head-on at the national road in Brgy. Caningay Monday evening.

Investigation showed one of the motorcycles encroached into the opposite lane, causing the collision.

Meanwhile, in Kabankalan City, a minor rider was injured after a multi-vehicle crash involving three motorcycles and a car when he attempted to overtake and struck an oncoming vehicle, triggering a chain of collision.*
