A 28-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a sports utility vehicle at Sitio Iliranan, Brgy. Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 12.
Police identified the victim as Joemar Maribong, a heavy equipment operator and resident of Brgy. General Luna, Toboso, who was driving a black and red Raider motorcycle.
Police said the driver of the SUV, identified as Bernard Bartan, 44, of San Carlos City, was arrested following the incident.
Initial investigation by the San Carlos police showed that the Toyota Rush driven by Bartan was southbound while the motorcycle was northbound when the vehicles collided.
Authorities said the motorcycle struck the left front side of the SUV, causing the rider to fall and sustain fatal head injuries.
The victim was rushed to the San Carlos City Hospital but was declared dead. The SUV driver is now under police custody.*
