A 22-year-old motorcycle driver died after crashing into a parked cargo truck loaded with sugarcane along the national highway at Hacienda De Fuego, Brgy. RSB, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, Thursday night, Oct. 2.
The police identified the victim as alias “Shaifer,” a laborer and resident of Brgy. DSB, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.
He was driving a Yamaha Mio 125 motorcycle when he lost control and hit the rear of the truck.
The truck, driven by alias “Rey,” 30, of Bago City, was parked by the roadside since the parking area of the sugar milling company was already full and was under the supervision of security guards.
The impact threw the victim onto the cemented road, causing multiple injuries.
He was rushed by local rescuers to Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital where he was declared dead.
Both vehicles and the truck driver are now under the custody of La Carlota police.*
