Mother-son, husband-wife tandems, other bets file COCs

More incumbent mayors in Negros Occidental were seeking reelection Wednesday, October 6, the sixth day of filing of certificates of candidacy (COC).

Isabela Mayor Irene Montilla, who is seeking reelection for her second term, was joined by her son, newcomer Juan Miguel Montilla, who is running for vice mayor, and her slate in filing their COCs.

In Binalbagan, Mayor Alejandro Mirasol, who is seeking reelection, filed his COC, along with his wife, Mary Ann Mirasol, who is seeking the vice mayoral seat. The incumbent mayor will be challenged by Ramil Carpio and former mayor Emmanuel Aranda.

In San Carlos City, seeking reelection in the 2022 polls are Mayor Renato Gustilo, who will be on his third and last term, and Vice Mayor Paul Christopher Carmona who filed their COCs.

Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares, who is also seeking reelection, filed his COC with vice mayoral bet, former councilor Jose Nicolas Jalandoni III.

In Sagay City, seeking the mayoral position is Vice Mayor Narciso Javelosa Jr., while last termer 2nd District Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva will run for vice mayor.

Also seeking reelection are Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante III and Vice Mayor Edgar Pagayonan.

Calatrava Mayor Marilyn Era and Vice Mayor Florido Dinapo are also seeking reelection in the next polls.

In Hinobaan, Councilor Daph Reliquias and Mayor Ernesto Estrao filed their COCs for mayor and vice mayor, respectively.

Madonnah Jaojoco, the wife of Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco, who is already on his third and last term, is seeking to replace her husband in the mayoral seat, while running for vice mayor is Maria Luisa Maling dela Cruz.

The final day for filing of COCs is on October 8.*
