A total of 408 jail personnel and persons deprived of liberty tested negative for illegal drugs in joint operations conducted in three jail facilities across the Negros Island Region from Monday to Wednesday, Feb. 9 to 11.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Regional Office Negros Island Region, in coordination with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and partner agencies, carried out search and seizure operations and random drug testing in the facilities.
On Monday authorities tested 128 individuals at the San Carlos City District Jail, including 42 BJMP personnel and 86 PDLs, all of whom yielded negative results.
Meanwhile, 44 individuals in Vallehermoso Municipal Jail and 54 individuals in Canlaon City Jail underwent testing, covering a combined total of 50 BJMP personnel and 48 PDLs, with all results also negative on Tuesday.
On Friday 182 individuals composed of 43 BJMP personnel and 139 PDLs were tested at the Bais City Jail, with no positive results recorded.
Authorities said no illegal drugs were recovered during the operations.
The operations were conducted in support of BJMP’s “Laban Kontra Droga” and the government’s BIDA Program aimed at maintaining drug-free and secure jail facilities.*
