Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Wednesday, January 19, that the Negros Occidental provincial government is ready to open more hospitals to COVID-19 patients if the numbers continue to increase.
The governor also said he is going on quarantine for three days because he has a cough, although his two rapid antigen tests had negative results.
The patients at the Cadiz District Hospital, the COVID-19 designated facility of the province, increased to 80 Wednesday, leaving only 27 available beds, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.
Of the 80 patients, 65 are COVID-19 positive and 15 are suspected cases, he said.
Lacson said they can convert the Valladolid District Hospital in Valladolid town and the Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City into COVID-19 facilities again if needed.*
