Mayor discusses priorities with new BCPO director

Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez  and PCol. Joeresty Coronica met on Wednesday.*

“It goes without saying that our priority is peace and order, and the security of residents,” Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Wednesday, July 24.

The mayor issued the statement following a meeting with PCol. Joeresty Coronica, the new Bacolod City Police Office director, at his office at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Benitez said they discussed the responsibilities of the police.

“I want to know his plans for Bacolod,” Benitez said.

He said it may help that Coronica is from Bacolod because he is familiar with the terrain.

“Coronica knows people here so that is an advantage,” he said.

Coronica was previously the director of the Iloilo City Police Office.

He replaced Col. Noel Aliño, former BCPO director, who  is now the director of the  Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the  National Capital Region.*
