May the three-day stay of the pilgrim relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in the Diocese of Bacolod “re-enkindle in our hearts the desire for holiness to which we are all called”, Bishop Patricio Buzon said on Tuesday, May 28.

The pilgrim relics were turned over by the Archdiocese of Jaro to the Diocese of Bacolod on Tuesday .

The relics arrived at the BREDCO port in Bacolod and a motorcade to the San Sebastian Cathedral was held. Its arrival was greeted by devotees waving red roses.

The relics were transferred to the Carmelite Monastery at Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod, late Tuesday afternoon.

“We are greatly blessed by the visit of the pilgrim relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus,” Buzon said.

“May her life inspire us, and her ‘Little Way’ teach us that we too can attain holiness by doing ordinary things with love. With love we put a divine stamp in everything we do, even the littlest thing – for God is
love,” he added.

St. Therese of the Child Jesus, also know as Thérèse of Lisieux, was born Marie Françoise-Thérèse Martin on Jan. 2, 1873 and died on Sept. 30, 1897.

She is described as a highly influential model of sanctity for Catholics and for others because of the simplicity and practicality of her approach to the spiritual life.

In 1888 at the age of 15 she became a Carmelite nun and died at the age of 24.

The following is the schedule of the visit of her pilgrim relics to the Diocese of Bacolod:
