Man found dead in Binalbagan, possible animal attack probed

A 60-year-old man was found dead with multiple wounds in Sitio Cabiti, Brgy. Santol in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, Wednesday night, November 12.

Police said they received the report shortly after 1 a.m. on November 13 from the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The victim’s body was brought to the Binalbagan Infirmary, where investigators later met with his wife.

The wife said the victim had gone out earlier in the evening to retrieve their carabao near the river but failed to return home.

She and their son went to look for him and found him lying on the ground with visible injuries and bloodstains on his clothing.

Initial examination showed wounds on the left side of his chest, upper left shoulder, left arm, and head.

Police said the injuries appeared to be puncture wounds possibly caused by a sharp or pointed object, raising the possibility that the victim may have been gored by their carabao.

However, investigators said the exact cause of death has not yet been established pending the results of a post-mortem examination.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.*
