Malong promoted to police colonel, retains command of RMFB-NIR

Jay Malong has been promoted to the rank of police colonel while continuing to serve as force commander of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Negros Island Region.

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region held his oath-taking and donning of ranks ceremony at Kanlaon Hall, Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

PRO-NIR Regional Director Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño administered Malong’s oath during the ceremony attended by members of the command group, regional staff, officers, personnel and Malong’s family.

Malong is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 2003 “Sambigkis.”

As force commander of RMFB-NIR, he oversees a unit tasked with supporting security and law enforcement operations across the Negros Island Region.

Cardiño said the promotion carries greater responsibility in leadership and command.

“This new rank is not the finish line. Rather, it is the beginning of a greater challenge,” Cardiño said.

He also urged Malong to lead personnel through example while maintaining discipline, fairness and compassion.

“Your decisions will influence your personnel, your units, and more importantly, the communities that we have sworn to protect,” Cardiño added. PRO-NIR said the promotion recognizes Malong’s years of service and places greater responsibility on him as part of the regional police leadership.*
