LTO-NIR to issue show cause order vs. SUV driver in fuel-and-run case

The Land Transportation Office Negros Island Region is set to issue a show cause order against the registered owner and driver of an SUV involved in a fuel-and-run incident in Bacolod City.

LTO-NIR said the incident happened at a gasoline station in Brgy. Taculing on April 15.

Initial reports showed the vehicle refueled and left the station without paying.

Authorities said the act may constitute violations of Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, along with possible criminal liability.

Under the order, the concerned parties are required to submit a verified explanation within five days.

Failure to comply may result in penalties, including suspension or revocation of the driver’s license and a hold order on the vehicle.

LTO-NIR also urged the public to report similar incidents as part of efforts to enforce road discipline and accountability.*
