LTO-NIR records 84 violations in half-day roadside enforcement drive

The Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region recorded 84 traffic and vehicle violations during intensified roadside enforcement operations conducted until noon on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

LTO-NIR said its Regional Law Enforcement Service issued 60 Temporary Operator’s Permits during the half-day operation.

Seatbelt violations topped the list with 22 cases, followed by 17 reckless driving violations and 16 cases involving unregistered vehicles.

Authorities also recorded 10 unlicensed drivers, eight helmet violations and seven plate-related violations.

The six categories accounted for 80 of the 84 violations, while the LTO did not immediately specify the remaining four violations.

The enforcement drive focused on Republic Act 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, as well as the agency’s “No Plate/Improvised Plate–No Travel” policy, roadside inspections and vehicle roadworthiness.

LTO personnel also distributed road safety and vehicle roadworthiness information materials to motorists during the operation.*
