Local government units and private groups have began cleanup operations following Monday’s polls.

The Bago government through the City Environment Management Office spearheaded the removal and disposal of all campaign materials around the city starting Wednesday, May 11.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia has also created a Post-Election Clean-Up Committee tasked to immediately remove the campaign materials installed by candidates in Bacolod City.

Under Executive Order No. 24, signed by the mayor on Tuesday, May 10, Leonardia directed members of the committee to ensure the speedy removal of campaign materials and coordinate with the presidents of the Liga ng mga Barangay and the Sangguniang Kabataan in the conduct of the clean-up as well as with the garbage collection contractor, IPM Services.

Leonardia, who chairs the body, also tasked the members to inform private property owners regarding the removal of campaign materials.

Those involved in the committee must ensure the cleanliness of the city after the removal operations, he added.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran is vice chairman of the PECUC, while City Administrator Edward Joseph Cuansing is the action officer.

Other members of the committee are Ma. Victoria Parrenas – acting secretary to the mayor, Aladino Agbones – city engineer, Gilda Lluisma – General Services Office head, Ramil Palalon – Department of Public Services officer-in-charge, Atty. Reuben Sabig of the City Legal Office, and the Public Information Office.

Several teams from the Padayona Movement headed by Col. William Señoron also conducted post-election cleanup operations throughout Negros Occidental.

They are removing not just their posters, but those of all candidates, Señoron, whose group supported the Ferdinand Marcos Jr.-Sara Duterte tandem, said.

“It was a very grueling campaign season, not just for the candidates, but also for the volunteers who were very ,much emotionally involved….It is time to come together and heal as one,” he added.*
