Let Leni lead, guv says

“Let Leni lead,” Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson told a gathering of women at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City on Tuesday afternoon, March 8.

The governor issued the call before distributing pink roses at the International Women’s Day celebration at the Provincial Capitol.

He said Board Member Rita Gatuslao quoted the United Nations deputy secretary general as saying “let women lead, I would like to add let Leni lead”.

The statement of the governor in support of the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo was met with laud applause and cheers from the women present.

The governor is set to join Robredo at rallies in San Carlos City and the Paglaum Stadium in Bacolod City during her visit to Negros Occidental on March 11.

The supporters of Robredo from San Carlos City and the Negros Oriental side will join the San Carlos rally, he said.

“Its being my hometown I will be there,” he said.

Robredo will also visit Sagay City where she will lay flowers at the graves of former governors Joseph and Alfredo Marañon Jr.

Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva (Negros Occidental, 2nd District) and Sagay Mayor Alfredo Marañon III are among Robredo’s supporters.

Robredo will also hold rallies in various areas in southern Negros before her grand rally in Bacolod City on Friday evening, March 11.*
