Leonardia, city execs give Sara rousing welcome

Presidential daughter Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio received a rousing welcome Monday, December 20, at the Bacolod City Government Center.

She was by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, city councilors, barangay captains, Grupo Progreso cndidates as well as businessman and Bacolod congressional aspirant Dan Atayde.

The BCGC lobby and upper level were filled to the rafters as an apparently surprised Duterte-Carpio confided she was expecting only to meet with Leonardia to relay her Christmas message for the people of Bacolod and show her concern for those affected by super Typhoon Odette, a press release said.

“Let us give a warm welcome to the next Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines,” the emcee declared as Duterte-Carpio made her way to the lobby with barangay captains lining to receive her and red-clad Leonardia suppoters giving the visiting government dignitary a shout out.

Chants of “Inday Sara, Sara All. Inday Sara, Sara All”, reverberated across the BCGC halls as Leonardia led his special guest and party via stairs up to the Mayor’s Office at the third floor.

Upbeat MassKara street dance music was being played on the PA system, providing a festive mood, with barangay folk and Leonardia occasionallyb dancing to the beat before the Davao City mayor’s arrival.

SARA’S MESSAGE

Duterte-Carpio said was is in Bacolod to give aid to the victims of super Typhoon Odette.

She said she was overwhelmed by the warm welcome and the people’s sniles that greeted her.

Her courtesy call on the Bacolod mayor, she continued, was supposed to be a social visit to personally greet Leonardia a Merry Christmas.

A HEALTHY NEW YEAR

Duterte-Carpio also wished Bacolodnons a blessing-filled 2022.

“Spend Christmas with your family and may your New Year be peaceful and Covid-free,” Duterte-Carpio said.

She also extended the gratitude of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, for the support of Bacolodnons during the 2016 elections, as well as the triumph of his senatorial slate in 2019.
