Landers Superstore, the fastest-growing membership shopping store in the country, is targeted to open at Megaworld’s The Upper East township in Bacolod City in March 2023, Pieter Lukman, Landers chief operating officer, announced on Tuesday, September 13.

It will be the first Landers Superstore in Western Visayas, and the second one outside of Luzon, Graham Coates, first vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, said.

Coates and Lukman held a ceremonial signing of the partnership between Megaworld and Landers at a press conference at Park Inn by Radisson in Bacolod City.

The store will occupy a 2.5-hectare property along Upper East Avenue, just across the two latest residential condominium developments, Two Regis and Herald Parksuites, as well as the upcoming BPO office towers.

Aside from bringing in huge investments, Landers will also be providing valuable employment to the local workforce, Lukman said.

The Landers Bacolod branch is expected to generate about 500 jobs from construction phase to its full launch.

The store will cost more than P500 million, Lukman said.

Landers is thrilled to call Bacolod City as its second home in the Visayas. Bacolod stood out among other cities in the region for its tremendous economic growth over the years and its solid reputation as one of the most business friendly cities in the country, he said.

He said Bacolod has a huge market with an insatiable demand for good brands.

The membership shopping store will be directly connected to the west wing of the soon-to-rise three-level Upper East Mall via a 30-meter long bridgeway, which will come equipped with a walkalator to allow greater mobility for customers even with their grocery carts in tow, Coates said.

Another highlight of Landers Upper East will be its parking area, which will be designed to accommodate more than 300 vehicles at a time. The facility will be integrated into an area of the township where centuries-old trees are preserved. Permeable paver blocks will be used for the ground surface of the parking area for better rainwater retention.

The store will also feature high bay LED lighting fixtures and energy efficient air-conditioning units. It will also be equipped with backup emergency power, as well as a rainwater collector system that will allow the collection and harvesting of water for later use.

“We are very happy and excited to host another Landers in our township. This time, inside The Upper East township in Bacolod, which is envisioned to be Bacolod’s newest central business district. This will be one of our anchor commercial establishments that will be directly connected to our iconic Upper East Mall,” Coates said.

The Bacolod branch will be the fourth Landers store under Megaworld, after Landers Alabang West, Landers Arcovia City and Landers Uptown Bonifacio.

NVC PARTNERSHIP
Landers has been contributing to Bacolod’s development and growth even before it launched its store expansion through its partnership with the Negrense Volunteers for Change (NVC) Foundation.

They spearheaded numerous outreach activities in Bacolod and the rest of Western Visayas under the Mingo Meals Nutritional Support Program. For the past three years, Landers donated P485,384 worth of Mingo meals that fed 62,916 children from underserved areas in the province, Landers in its official statement said.

Through these efforts, Landers proves that it is not only a one-stop shop for premium local and international products, but also one of the leading developers of dynamic communities in the country, it said.

MEMBERSHIP
For the past six years, Landers has fulfilled its promise of providing an elevated shopping experience for Filipino families. Within its stores, members will find an expansive selection of the best products from around the world, its statement said.

Landers has also pioneered promotional events like the Super Crazy Sale and the Super Fuel Sale, guaranteeing regular savings for its members, it said.

Meanwhile, its in-house restaurant, bakery, and cafè – Landers Central, Dough & Co., and Doppio – allow members to indulge in super food and beverages, it added.

Additional membership perks include discounted fuel at the Landers-Caltex gas station, low-priced medicine from Capital Care Pharmacy, and free haircuts from Federal Barbers.

MCDONALDS STORE
Meanwhile, the most beautiful McDonalds store in the country will open at The Upper East on October 10, Harold Geronimo, Megaworld Corporation vice president, said.

Megaworld, a major sponsor of the MassKara, will also host a series of festival events at The Upper East in October, Geronimo said.*
