Lacson okays special flights for fully vaxxed individuals

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has granted the request of Philippine Airlines to mount special flights from Manila to the Bacolod-Silay International Airport for fully vaccinated individuals from October 18 to November 29.

Fully vaccinated individuals are now allowed to enter Negros Occidental and Bacolod City without presenting COVID-19 negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT – PCR) test results.

The governor, in a letter to PAL Manager Rene Aviles Wednesday, October 13, informed him that his request to mount the special flights had been granted.

Aviles in a letter to the governor dated October 12, sought permission to allow fully vaccinated individuals to travel from Manila to Bacolod.

All passengers of the special flights will be given a special discounted rate of P3,750 all-in-fare without undergoing RT–PCR tests, Aviles said.

The scheduled flights will depart from Manila at around 8 a.m. and will arrive at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport at around 9:20 a.m. every Monday and Friday only, starting October 18 until November 29, he said.

Provincial Consultant Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said the PAL special flights will also cater to residents of Bacolod, considering that the city government will also no longer require RT-PCR test for fully vaccinated residents.

Aviles said the purpose of the special flights is to help promote the vaccination program of the government.

Selling of tickets for the special flights will start October 14 at selected travel agents and PAL direct ticket offices only and not through their website, Aviles said.*
