Lacson calls for end to killings after NPA executes 2 in Victorias

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Tuesday, July 14, reiterated his call for an end to violence in the province following the recent killings of two more Negrenses.

“It is very sad that Filipinos are killing each other,” Lacson said.

The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command-New People’s Army (RJPC-NPA) claimed responsibility for the deaths.

In a statement released on Sunday, spokesperson Ka Cecil Estrella confirmed that their Special Partisan Unit (SPARU) carried out the “death penalty” against Jerome Seballos and Alex Cunanan in  Sitio Singko, Barangay Gawahon, Victorias City, on Friday.

Lacson urged the remaining communist rebels to surrender and return to the folds of the law, emphasizing that the government is ready to provide them with necessary assistance.

Lacson also reassured the military of the provincial government’s support for former rebels who choose to reintegrate into society.*
