Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelado Benitez on Thursday, Oct. 31, urged the public to ensure a peaceful and safe celebration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2.
Lacson reiterated the call of the Philippine National Police for the public not to bring alcohol, guns and other deadly weapons to cemeteries.
“Be reasonable in the celebration in honor of our departed relatives,” the governor said.
Benitez said “as we take a pause to remember our loved ones who have passed away, may we be reminded of God’s love, compassion and mercy”.
“May we celebrate the occasion with solemn remembrance with our loved ones and in prayers,” he said.
“Drive safely and with caution, and let this occasion be celebrated with our families peacefully and with solemnity,” Benitez said.
Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod police director, said 250 policemen are being fielded to secure cemeteries and other public places on Nov. 1 and 2.*
