A laborer died after he was hit on the head with a piece of wood at Zone-4, Brgy. Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Charlie Escotin, 47, died after he was allegedly struck with a piece of Gmelina wood by Leo Bonda, 29, a police report said.
The suspect waylaid the victim and struck him with the wood several times on his head resulting to his death, the police said, adding that both are from Brgy. Cabahug.
The suspect alleged that they had a heated argument prior to the incident stemming from longstanding grudges between them.
The victim was rushed to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic but was declared dead on arrival due to severe wounds on his head.
At about 1:30 a.m. of Monday, Oct. 14, the suspect surrendered to a barangay tanod and was turned over to the police.*
