Kabankalan sends 23 Badjaos home to Zamboanga

Twenty-three Badjaos in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, were sent home to Zamboanga on Sunday, November 12.

Their repatriation was facilitated by the Kabankalan City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) with the support of Mayor Benjie Miranda and PLtCol. John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, a press release from the city government on Monday said.

The Badjaos were safely transported via Ceres bus and accompanied by personnel of CSWDO to ensure that they return home to Zamboanga.

Their transportation allowance and food packs were given by the DSWD regional office.

Kabankalan City Administrator Lord Zafra said “the initiative not only demonstrates the commitment of Kabankalan City to address the needs of marginalized communities but also highlights the dedication of its leaders in fostering inclusivity and social welfare.”
