In an unexpected move former 6th District Rep. Genaro Alvarez joined the race for Kabankalan City mayor on Tuesday, Oct. 8, making it a seven-cornered fight.
Incumbent Kabankalan Mayor Benjie Miranda also filed his Certificate of Candidacy for reelection with his wife, Devina, as his running mate, on Tuesday.
Former Mayor and Governor Isidro Zayco filed his certificate of candidacy for mayor of Kabankalan with Vice Mayor Migz Zayco as his runningmate on Saturday.
Seen with Alvarez was Alice Marie “Ali” Zayco-Gomez who is also running for vice mayor of Kabankalan.
She is the niece of Isidro Zayco and the daughter of former mayor Pedro Zayco.
Her sister Anne Marie Zayco is running for councilor under the ticket of Isidro Zayco.
Also running for mayor of Kabankalan are John Cordero, Eliezer Duron Jr., Leo Oquias and Florelyn Mungaray.*
