Judge sentences 2 Bacolod residents to life terms for sale of shabu to cops

Two Bacolod residents have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the sale of shabu to policemen.

Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 Judge Raymond Joseph Javier sentenced Rolando Flamiano Bernabe and Danilo Carpentero to life terms on Friday, February 3.

Bernabe was arrested for selling .141 gram of shabu to a police poseur buyer for P1,000 in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago in Bacolod City on January 17, 2020. On his arrest 20.106 grams of shabu were recovered from him.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of P500,000 for the sale of drugs, and to another life term and to pay a fine of P400,000 for possession of shabu.

His co-accused Ma. Cristina Aguia was found not guilty of possession of shabu and acquitted.

Carpentero was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of P500,000 for the sale of .125 gram of shabu for P500 to a policeman at Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2, Bacolod, on Feb. 11, 2022.

He was also found guilty for possession of 5.293 grams of shabu and sentenced to suffer a prison term of 20 years and one day and to pay a fine of P400,000.

The judge ordered the immediate transfer of Bernabe and Carpentero to the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

He also ordered the turnover of the seized drugs to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 for destruction.*
