JobStreet, an online job portal, will kick off its on-ground caravan in Bacolod City with week-long activities for both local employers and jobseekers from February 13 to 18.

The initiative aims to bring more employers and jobseekers together as part of JobStreet’s commitment to boosting the labor market by going hyperlocal, Kim Viray, JobStreet Philippines marketing head, said at a press conference in Bacolod Tuesday, February 7.

Through the JobStreet Caravan, applicants can join the Bacolod Career Fair, at SM Bacolod on February 18, where hundreds of jobs will be up for grabs, Gian Lorenzo Adato, its Hirer Marketing Lead, said.

The activity will be joined by 30 employers such as BDO, Concentrix, Negros Longlife, Teleperformance, Bounty Fresh, and more, he said.

Top jobs available in the career fair are for customer service representatives, administrative assistants, accounting staff, and sales representatives, among others.

The event is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, Bacolod City government and the Bacolod Public Employment Service Office.

According to JobStreet’s internal database, more than 100,000 jobseekers in the platform are based in Negros Occidental, and 47 percent of hirers in the whole Western Visayas are found in Negros Occidental, Viray said.

“Many jobseekers have returned to their provinces or decided to reside outside Metro Manila even after the pandemic. This means we have more local quality talents that are looking for better career opportunities, so we’re here to help them make it even more possible,” he said.

JobStreet is also dedicated to assisting the future workforce in navigating the labor market as it tours various Bacolod schools and universities such as the University of St. La Salle Bacolod and La Consolacion College of Bacolod, he added.

Through the campus tour, students and aspiring professionals will learn relevant job-hunting tips and up-to-date career insights for the youth, he said.

Local participating hirers will also get to experience an exclusive meet and greet dinner with the representatives of JobStreet, highlighting the brand’s effort in empowering companies in the new normal.

JobStreet also said the hottest job vacancies in Bacolod are for operations support, sourcing managers, supply chain managers, talent acquisition specialists, industrial engineers, and many more.

“The caravan marks our first-ever on-ground activity after the pandemic, and we’re glad to have commenced this initiative in Bacolod. We look forward to reaching out to more candidates and hirers not just in the Western Visayas but also in other parts of the country to make our vision of providing jobs to Filipinos more attainable,” Adato said.
