Local officials of Moises Padilla recently reached out to residents at far-flung Sitio Agogolo in Barangay Macagahay, as part of its effort of bringing the government closer to the people.

Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo led the distribution of 30 sacks of rice, medicines, and lunch to the residents.

Councilor Vincent Garcia also provided bond papers to Agogolo Elementary School while solar panels from Tatak Kalamay were also distributed to the residents.

Also, 120 slippers, packed lunch, and snacks for the children were provided by Team Espada, Bacolod Hilux Group, and Team Ironman from Bacolod City.

In a speech, Yulo thanked the provincial government for lending its bulldozer to the local government for the creation of the access road going to the isolated sitio.

The mayor will also have the daycare center repaired, while 5th District Rep. Ma. Congresswoman Arroyo will have a classroom constructed for Grade 7, she said.

She also stressed the importance of planting trees as this will help address the water shortage in the isolated sitio and that the local government has seedlings ready for distribution.

Access road

Meanwhile, Yulo also led the inspection of the newly-created access road to the far-flung sitio.

The creation of the 6.5-kilometer dirt road began in July this year and was completed in August.

The isolated sitio is around 17 kilometers away from the town proper and has an elevation of almost 500 meters above sea level.

Prior to the creation of the access road, the isolated sitio was only accessible by foot or by horse.*
