Huge rollback in diesel, gasoline prices this week

Motorists can expect respite in the coming days, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said on Saturday, as he announced a huge price rollback of PHP24.94 per liter for diesel, PHP3.41 for gasoline, and PHP2 for kerosene starting Tuesday.

“This is bigger than last week’s rollback and it means there is relief coming,” he said in a taped video message.

Marcos then urged all oil companies to implement the price cut in “fuIl.”

“Implement the rollback fully, correctly and without delay. Give the people what they deserve,” he said.

In cases of violation, Marcos said the public may reach out to the Office of the President and the Department of Energy for immediate and appropriate action.

“If there is a violation, let us know. We will act on it,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said government relief measures for the transport sector will continue, including the PHP10 fuel discount for public utility vehicles and buses, as well as the Service Contracting Program for drivers.

He also noted that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has now granted a three-month extension to the validity of expired license, student permit, conductor’s license and vehicle registration.

“If your license or registration is expiring this month, it will still be valid until July, and you will not pay any fine or surcharges,” he said.

“We are aware of the situation of every Filipino during this time. We will not stop. We will not back down. And we would ensure that relief would reach the public,” he added.*
