The House Committee on Public Accounts is scheduled to hold a hearing on the alleged irregularities in the procurement process of P1.4 billion in infrastructure and other projects in Silay City on Nov.11, Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano (Abang Lingkod Partylist) said on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego and other city officials have been invited to the hearing to be held at the Belmonte Hall of the House of Representatives.
The hearing is being held following a privilege speech delivered by Paduano on the matter.
Paduano, House Committee on Public Accounts chair, has sent a letter to Gallego requesting him and other Silay City officials to attend the hearing in the “spirit of transparency and public service”.
Also invited to the hearing are the Silay City Administrator, and officials of the Bids and Awards Committee, Office of the Building Official and the Engineering, Budget, Accounting and Treasury offices, as well as the City Heritage District Administration Office.
Gallego confirmed that he received the invitation and said he is attending the hearing.
The mayor denied that any anomalies were committed.*
