The House of Representatives approved the cultural mapping bill that aims to boost heritage conservation and tourism on third and final reading on Wednesday afternoon, September 15, Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District) said.
Benitez co-authored House Bill 10057 with the Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Bloc.
The bill mandates local government units to identify tangible and intangible cultural heritage for tourism promotion, conservation and integrate local history and culture in the school curriculum to cultivate local pride, and sense of identity and community, Benitez said.
