An honest traffic enforcer and his wife turned over P10,600 they found in a tricycle to Victorias City Administrator Dino Acuña Monday, March 15, so it could be returned to its owner.

It turned out that the money was badly needed for the purchase of medicine for a sick woman, Acuña said.

Victorias City traffic enforcer Edcel Lauron and his wife, Amor, turned over a red dotted wallet containing P10,600 in cash, a Land Bank of the Philippines ATM card and other identification cards belonging to Sofia Pelayo, 63, of Hacienda Basa II, Estado, Barangay X.

Acuña posted on his Facebook page that the wallet had been found and Susan Pelayo, the daughter of Sophia, went to his office to claim it, he said.

Susan said she had been crying because she could not find the wallet that contained money intended for the medicine for her sick mother, Acuña said.

“We are very proud of Edcel and Amor for their honesty”, he said.

The daughter offered the couple P1,000 as a reward but they would not take it because they knew it was for the medicine of a sick person, Acuña added.*
