Himamaylan massacre justice remains elusive

Six months after four members of the Fausto family were massacred in their home in Sitio Kangkiling, Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, justice remains elusive.

Vincent Parra, Commission on Human Rights head in Negros Occidental, said on Wednesday, January 10, that the Himamaylan police have yet to file charges against the suspects in the killing of the couple Roly and Emelda Fausto and their two sons at their house on June 14, 2023.

The police, who ealier tagged New People’s Army members as the culprit, said they have not filed the case because they are waiting for Emily, the daughter of the Faustos, he said.

The CHR has not identified suspects in the killing.

”The killings must be addressed as it is a violation of the right to life,” Parra said. *
