A former City Engineer in Himamaylan who filed his certificate of candidacy for mayor reported to the police that an unidentified person allegedly attempted to grab his documents as he entered the Commission on Election Office on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Engr. Vicente Genova, 55, told the police that while he entered the COMELEC office in Himamaylan City to file his certificate of candidacy, two persons followed him and allegedly grabbed his documents.
The unidentified individuals were attempting to grab something from their bag but stopped and fled after seeing that a video was being taken, he added.
The video of the incident was posted on the Facebook page of Genove.
In his Facebook post, he called for help to identify the persons involved, adding that it is unfair as everyone has the right to run for office.
Genova survived a shooting incident in Kabankalan City in 2022.
The police and the Commission on Elections are now investigating the incident.*
