The palm oil plantation management in Candoni, Negros Occidental, has assured Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson that they have stopped earth moving activities while they seek an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).

The Environment Management Bureau 6 earlier issued a cease and desist order versus HAPI to halt its quarry operations, road construction and other activities at its palm oil plantation pending securing an ECC and complying with other government requirements.

Lacson said HAPI has written to him to assure that they will halt earth moving activities while “they comply with what we are requesting, especially the ECC”.

Environment Secretary Raphael Lotilla also informed the governor that he spoke to the owner of HAPI and instructed him to comply with the necessary requirements.

Only quarry activities and other earthmoving activities have been suspended, work at the palm oil plantation continues, Lacson said.*
