Guv recovers from Covid, more hit by virus at Capitol

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has recovered from COVID-19 and resumed work from home Tuesday, January 25, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

The governor signed checks, contracts and other documents, he said.

The governor and 25 provincial government employees so far have been hit with COVID-19 and the Capitol in Bacolod City has been locked down for a week to prevent the spread of the virus. It will reopen on Monday, January 31.

The number of COVID-19 positive cases at the Capitol increased with two Office of the Provincial Agriculturist employees testing positive for COVID-19 Tuesday.

Diaz said a lawyer at the Provincial Legal Office was also reactive to a Rapid Antigen Test, while other Capitol employees were waiting for their RT-PCR test results Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Diaz said Negros Ooccidental had 127 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday with Silay City recording the highest number at 59, followed by Talisay City with 29.
