Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Department of Health Undersecretary Dr. Mary Ann Maestral signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) designating the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City as the apex hospital within the province’s Health Care Provider Network.
The MOA, which aims to fully implement Universal Health Care for Negros Occidental residents, means CLMMRH is not supposed to reject patients referred to it by provincial government hospitals, Lacson said on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The policy on referrals has to be studied and agreed upon, he said.
He has heard that there are a lot of admission rejections, he hopes this will lessen with the MOA, Lacson said.
Under the agreement, the partnership aims to ensure comprehensive health care delivery from primary to tertiary levels within the province of Negros Occidental.
Meanwhile, Lacson said there is a proposal for a private practitioner to take over the management of the Merceditas Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City.
Lacson said he is waiting for the offer.*
