Guv eyes economic dev’t collaboration with Guam

Possible economic development collaboration between Negros Occidental and Guam to provide more opportunities for Negrenses is being eyed.

The possible collaboration was discussed by Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson in a meeting with Edward Camacho, Business and Economic Development Manager of the Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA), while in Guam on Wednesday, June 8.

GEDA is a public corporation that was created by law on Aug. 21, 1965.

Its broad responsibilities include the centralized direction, control and supervision of an integrated plan for the economic development of Guam through its programs and offerings, which include public finance services, business and investment assistance and incentives programs, and real property management.

Also present at the meeting were Consul General Patrick John Hilado, head of the Philippine Consulate in Guam, Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, Public Information Officer Charina Magallanes – Tan, and Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena.*
