Gov. Eugenio Jose Lason said on Friday, March 4, that he expects Negros Occidental’s status to be downgraded from Alert Level 2 to 1 soon.

Negros Occidental had nine new COVID-19 cases for a total of 113 active cases on Friday, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported.

The World Health Organization may announce the COVID-19 pandemic’s shift to an endemic status by September, Dr. Chris Sorongon, Bacolod Emergency Operations Center deputy, said on Thursday.

“We have enough time to prepare for that,” Lacson said, as he stressed the need to continue to practice minimum health protocols.

“Let us continue to protect ourselves,” he said.*
