Guv closes Capitol park to minors below 13

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has issued an executive order imposing “reasonable restrictions” at the Provincial Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod City as a preventive health and safety protocol to curb the possible increase of COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental.

The park will be open only to persons 13 years old and above, Lacson said in Executive Order 21-57-A issued Thursday, January 6.

This is because children below 13 years of age are not yet vaccinated and are more prone to be infected with the COVID-19 virus, especially the Omicron variant, he said.

The park, which will be open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, will be limited to 50 percent of its venue capacity, he added.

DOH public health standards will be strictly enforced.

Minimum health standards prescribed by the Department of Health will be strictly enforced at all times, Lacson said.

Those entering the park will be subjected to temperature checks. Physical distancing and wearing of masks inside the park will be required, he stressed.*
