Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson attributed the support of the mayors of Negros Occidental for him and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer to the provincial government’s very good relationship with the local government units (LGUs).
More mayors aired their support on Thursday, September 2, for the re-election bids of the Lacson and Ferrer in 2022.
“The provincial government has tried to address whatever requests that the LGUs make. This is just the result of our very good relationship,” he said.
“We are very thankful that they continue to have their trust and confidence in the Lacson-Ferrer tandem. This will further motivate us to do better, hopefully if allowed in our next term,” he said.
Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares and Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo were among the latest to air their support for the Lacson-Ferrer tandem on Thursday.
Lizares said he is supporting them because the governor has handled the COVID-19 pandemic response well.
The provincial government has also been a big help to Talisay and its plan to move the Capitol to his city will boost the local economy, Lizares added.
Yulo said he echoes the sentiments of the growing number of local chief executives supporting the reelection bids of Lacson and Ferrer for successfully bringing countless developments and programs felt by thousands of Negrosanons, including the people of Bago City.
“Indeed under their leadership Negros Occidental is moving forward and soaring high,” he said.*
