
Grass fire incidents in Bacolod City have reached 88 cases in April, prompting intensified prevention and coordination efforts among public safety agencies.
The increase was reported by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Bacolod City Fire Station during the 2nd Quarter City Management Coordinating Committee (CMCC) meeting held on Tuesday, April 21. FSupt. Jenny Mae Masip, Bacolod Fire Marshal, said in a press release that the rising number of grass fires has become a key concern, particularly in open and fire-prone areas across the city.
In response, BFP and partner agencies discussed strengthening fire prevention strategies, including intensified monitoring, stricter enforcement, and increased public awareness campaigns.
The meeting, spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)–Bacolod City gathered representatives from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and National Police Commission.
