
A 47-year-old fisherman was stabbed to death during a confrontation in Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, Monday night, Jan. 19.
Police identified the victim as a single male resident of the area, while the suspect was identified as alias “Jojo,” a 42-year-old married fish vendor who remains at large.
The Himamaylan City Police Station reported that the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. while the victim was drinking liquor with a friend at a store.
The suspect arrived and allegedly grabbed him.
Police said the victim tried to strike the suspect with a beer bottle but missed, prompting the suspect to run, with the victim chasing after him.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times in the chest using a bladed weapon when the latter caught up with him.
The victim was rushed by Himamaylan rescuers to the Governor Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician.
A hot pursuit operation is ongoing as police continue efforts to locate and arrest the suspect.*
